A Horsham native, Robbye attended Thiel College for biology, but decided to return home and work with animals. She bought a small farm, giving riding lessons and boarding horses. She also raised Siberian Huskies. In her spare time she worked for a local groomer who ignited her love for grooming. Realizing her true love was working with dogs, Robbye attended the New York School of Dog Grooming in Manhattan. After graduating, Robbye spent two weeks working in a shop that taught her everything NOT to do as a groomer. She decided to open her own shop, The Gentle Groomer, and has provided top quality and gentle, compassionate grooming ever since. After 33 years as a professional groomer, Robbye has hung up her scissors and retired from grooming. But that doesn’t keep her away from the shop! Robbye is always around to lend a hand, give advice, and teach new groomers. She still enjoys watching the transformation of scared and/or bedraggled pets into the happy, beautiful creatures they should be. In her spare time Robbye enjoys gardening and bird watching, usually with the company of her black Lab Sassy, and “Cattle Dog” Duke. An avid reader, Robbye always has a book close at hand, and loves mystery novels and reading about grooming.
Kyle was born and raised at Robbye’s Gentle Groomers and has gone from playing under the grooming table to running the business! Kyle’s upbringing gives him a unique perspective which he uses to provide the best experience for his customers and staff alike. His dream is to keep growing the family business into a top quality facility. While Kyle doesn’t have any pets of his own, he feels like all the pets that visit Robbye’s are part of his family. When he’s not at the shop, you can find him on the golf course or spending time with his family.
Amanda has a great background in canine care, having worked as a veterinary technician’s assistant, bather, and daycare supervisor, as well as her experience with boarding and pet sitting. In addition to being our Kennel Manager, she also is a daycare counselor and bather. Amanda loves all dogs, especially big dogs! Her favorite breeds are Australian Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, and Newfoundlands. Those are also her favorite to groom. She says working with dogs is amazing and loves the variety of experience each day brings. As Robbye teaches her how to groom, she’s thrilled by the transformation that takes place on the table. Amanda looks forward to improving her new skills and learning how to do breed specific grooms. When not hanging out with the pups, Amanda loves spending time with her family and friends, Peaches her Cocker mix, Kyrah the Aussie/Border Collie and Snooki the ferret.
Kim – Assistant Manager
Another Hatboro-Horsham native, Kim practically grew up with the family, going to school with the Hemminger boys, plus, her mom was their babysitter! Kim had 8 years of small kennel experience prior to joining RGG. She says being at the front desk is always interesting, and she likes meeting new people and their pets. Kim loves spending time with her family, which includes her goofy Golden, Utely, and her sweet Shih Tzu, Sweet Pea. A big sports fan, Kim enjoys watching the game and tailgating with her friends. Someday Kim would like to go back to school for accounting, joking that she’ll only have time when her daughter is grown – maybe they’ll go to college together!
Ayana – Kennel Management / Bather
Ayana, also a Hatboro Horsham native, has also grown up in the Robbyes Gentle Groomers family. She has worked with Robbye and the Groomers for almost 15 years, starting as an after school kennel attendant. She also was involved with the start of Doggie Daycamp, and you may have seen her at the reception check in as well! Ayana enjoys spending time with her wags rescuee Rottweiler mix, Murphy. Ayana has her BS in Graphic Design and has her own freelance business she also enjoys working on signs and the website here at RGG.
Karen is always around at RGG, ready to lend a hand or share a joke. During the week she enjoys working with the Daycare dogs as well as bathing. On weekends she provides a friendly face at the front desk. Not much is known about Karen, but we have strong suspicions that she’s actually a Semi-Pro Underwater Basket Weaver.
Hailey joined RGG in 2014, and her great sense of humor and love of animals is already well known! Hailey has been involved with dogs for much of her life, and is working on her Bachelor’s in Animal Science. She grew up volunteering at animal rescues, and her Pittie mix Gypsy, as well as Siameses, Fallon and Giovanni, are rescues. Hailey enjoys hiking, swimming, and reading, preferably with her friends and pets.
